I lost my cool last week, for reasons. Like so many of us, I was having a tough time. I try to keep things light but some things need to be nipped in the bud.
This week is a whole new ball game, I had a little staycation and recharged, just in time for the Christmas season. Life ain’t half bad. Be kind to each other but take no crap!
The Roberts Creek Community Association wants to give a big shout-out to the young adults from Elphinstone Secondary School who volunteered to prepare the hall for the recent craft fair. The future of the Creek is in good hands.
Wolf Pups is opening the studio for shopping, demos and projects to go! Stop by for a visit Saturday, Dec. 11. Hand-printed and dyed t-shirts, hoodies, yoga wear, baby clothes, and more! 3186 Hansen Rd. 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The Saturday before Christmas, Roberts Creek Community Association, Roberts Creek Masons, and our local grocers are supporting a Christmas dinner available for pickup. All are welcome to this community sharing and building event. Sign-up forms are at the Roberts Creek General Store. This takes a small army of volunteer elves to succeed, if you fit the bill (no pointy ears required) sign up for a time that works for you at volunteersignup.org/9DHDF and get ready to be part of the magic, from Dec. 16 to 19. (Prep, packing and clean up. All volunteers will need to be vaccinated.)
Attached to the Lower Road side of the library is a beautiful yellow addition with a purpose. Announcing the new Creek Food Cupboard, hosted by the Salvation Army and the RCCA. Think about what people in the community might need, non-perishable food, personal care products, and period products. Take what you need and give what you can.
Since mid-November, SCRD parks staff have been hard at work in Cliff Gilker Park after bridges and trails were damaged in the recent flooding. As of Dec. 3, the park is back open! (With some changes.) Two bridges received substantial damage in the park and, for public safety, the trails leading to these bridges have been closed off. On Wednesday, Dec. 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., 5Rhythms Dance has a Simultaneous Headphone Broadcast at the Roberts Creek Hall. This means there can be outdoor dancers and everyone can come and dance regardless of your vaccine status! $20 pre-registration required via email: [email protected]. Specify if you will be dancing indoors or outdoors when you register. Proof of double vaccination required for indoor dancing, masks must be worn in all common spaces but are optional while dancing. Doors will remain open for increased ventilation. Donations for the food bank will be accepted and 20 per cent of proceeds will go to 5Rhythms Reach Out, a non-profit which helps provide access to this work to vulnerable populations.
