Their quest is toinform andbring awarenessabout this acute chronic autoimmune disease and the annual Walk for Lupus set for next Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The walk goes from the wharfat Davis Bay seawalltoMission Point Park and back.

Formany lupussufferers, it can be a life-long battle, and for others it can lead to organ failure and death.Lupus strikes one in 1,000 Canadians and anyone can be affected by lupus - men, women and children.

Symptoms include extreme fatigue, fever, skin rashes, sun sensitivity or persistent flu-like symptoms with blood abnormalities.It can affect muscles, joints, blood and blood vessels, lungs, heart, kidneys andthe brain and can attack in unpredictable ways. Lupus often goes undetected.It is a very difficult disease to diagnose and because it has many symptoms that are similar to other diseases, it is frequently misdiagnosed.

The Sunshine Coast Akroswirls are asking for support andfunding for this autoimmune disease so thatacause anda cure can be found.
