With COVID restrictions eased at last, the annual free Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Monday, Oct. 10, will offer dine-in as well as take-out options from either the Gibsons Legion Hall or Holy Family Church Hall in West Sechelt. Between 4 and 6 p.m., volunteers will serve the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, mixed veg, cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy and a dessert. Volunteers will also deliver meals to those who are immune-compromised, self-isolating or otherwise housebound.
Organizers emphasize this is a community dinner – an opportunity for us all to share in a meal even if, for some of us, we must still dine apart from one another. In the spirit of thanksgiving, there is no charge to anyone, so that all may enjoy.
Planning to attend? Please text or call 604-865-2011 before Oct. 7 and let them know how many meals are requested for your household and whether you will dine in or request take out. Please provide your name and contact number, and preferred time and location you will attend.
This event grows each year, with more community groups participating. The core group of volunteers and organizers rooted in the Sunshine Coast Christian churches working together have looped in members of area service clubs, businesses, and the Elphinstone Culinary Arts students to ensure that all who wish to, may enjoy a traditional “home-cooked” dinner. Won’t you join us?
