Youngsters aged three to five will plant seeds, dig in the dirt, explore nature, look for birds, bugs and trees at the Gardeneers program in July at the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden.

Children can attend with a grandparent or parent for four Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. each week. Pre-registration is highly recommended.

This is a hands-on, feet-active, mind-engaged chance for awakening observation skills, developing respect for living things and forming a life-long love of nature. Little hands can find seeds in the meadow, pick and sample peas and beans in the Veggie Patch, and make a compost in a pop bottle to take home. Stories, songs, games and crafts are all part of the fun.

Pre-register by calling 604-740-3696 or emailing [email protected]. Admission is by donation. The garden is located at 5941 Mason Road in Sechelt.
