Gallery to host bridal registry event

It's a tradition really, a tradition that's happened for years now.

It's a tradition really, a tradition that's happened for years now.

When a bride and groom are planning a marriage, they register at various retail outlets so their family and wedding guests will have some idea of what they may want or need in the way of wedding gifts as they embark on their lives together. Gone are the days of a newly married couple opening their wedding gifts and finding four toasters, three identical hand mixers and one item that nobody has yet figured out what it is and what it may be used for.

Now, for the first time on the Sunshine Coast, an art gallery is hosting a bridal registry for fine art.

The Landing Gallery, on Sunday, April 1, is holding a bridal registry event in Lower Gibsons. On that day, a bride and groom can come to the gallery and enjoy a wine and cheese reception and consider fine art as a wedding gift.

What better gift than art that the bride and groom have selected and registered? Usually, as a new couple embarks on a life together, artwork for their walls and homes is a last consideration; there are other more pragmatic items to consider. In this unique registry, the bride and groom will be able to show their wedding guests exactly the art and the artist they would prefer for their new home.

The Landing Gallery features a wide range of artwork: pottery, jewelry, paintings, hand-blown glassware, stained glass, mosaic tile pieces, sculpture, wood-turned pieces and even hand-bound books. With some 25 artists to choose from, this event will offer the opportunity for the bride and groom not only to see the artwork; they'll be able to meet the artist.
