I realized, suddenly, that September is looming. It feels like the party is over when wildfire smoke covers the Coast and shuts down summer prematurely. But hey, we’ve got lots to gear up for this fall, don’t you worry.
After a summer hiatus, the Elphinstone Community Association will begin holding their monthly meetings starting Sept. 20 at the Frank West Hall. They are open to everyone with an interest in Area E, nestled between Gibsons and Roberts Creek. If you like riveting guest speakers and thoughtful conversations about your neighbourhood, pop on by.
I thought we’d check in with Area E’s one and only school within our district. And no, it’s not Elphi. Ironically, Elphinstone High School is in the Town of Gibsons, not in Elphinstone. Tamara Hedden, Chair of the Cedar Grove Elementary School (CGES) Parent Advisory Council (PAC) was kind enough to submit some info for all the hard-working parents out there getting ready for that big day back:
“Even in the summer, your school PACs are already brainstorming and organizing for the next school year.
At Cedar Grove Elementary School (CGES) we are so excited to see all of our returning and new gnomes in only a few short weeks. Students from Grades 1 through 7 will return on Tuesday Sept. 5, from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our Kindergarten students begin their gradual entry on Wednesday, Sept. 6 (Kindergarten parents will receive more details from their school). Our PAC will have our annual welcome table setup outside of the main school entrance and we CAN’T WAIT to see you all!
Also please note that the SD46 provides all their students with school supplies for the year.
We encourage parents, not only of CGES school, but all parents to stay connected and follow their schools’ social media pages. If you have questions, please be sure to first and foremost to checkout SD46 on there website https://sd46.bc.ca/
We are really looking forward to this upcoming year and all of the fun things we as a PAC have planned for our students.
Sincerely,
Tamara Hedden
CGES PAC Chair”
Thank you to Tamara for your ardent dedication to our local PAC, and for taking the time to share back-to-school updates with us.
I would love to hear feedback, take suggestions on topics in our neighbourhood, and hear from all 3,883 residents of Elphinstone. I know you’re out there. Email me at [email protected].
