Day League curling is up and running.

The Gibsons Curling Club is running at full speed once again. After a two year “alteration of operations” due to COVID, it’s energizing and refreshing to see curlers back at their favourite winter pastime. If you’re a curler, or just curious or interested in the game, our doors are open. You’ve watched the game on television, come and see it right here on the Sunshine Coast. Come on in. You are more than welcome.

Our season began in October with virtually every night of the week taken up with leagues and curling activities. So too, our Day League was alive and well once again. And on Saturdays our Special Olympics games and training were back on the ice. The smiles and positive energy were evident even as you walked in the front door of the curling rink. It felt so good to be back.

And now, as 2023 is upon us, so too our curling season has been reawakened. We have openings in our Day League Curling. The Friday Night Fun League, meant for curlers from beginners and up, also has some openings for the remainder of the year. If you’re interested in trying curling, our doors are open.

From Jan. 20 to 22, the Curling Club is hosting an Open Bonspiel. If you’re a curler, you’re welcome, but book soon. And, if you’re just curious about curling, it’s a great time to stop by the curling club, come upstairs into the lounge, and watch a game or two. It’s warm and comfortable up there. You’re welcome and your window seat to all the action awaits.

Feb. 25 is National Curling Day. There’ll be lots of curling activity and events happening virtually all day. Our club is open to the public, particularly on that day. Come on out to watch, or even to try the game out.

And finally, if you’d like to take curling lessons along with other beginners, there’s always “Learn To Curl” classes on Monday evenings. This year’s class is both successful and full, but if you’d like your name on the list let us know. Simply contact the Curling Club for further details.

For more information or if you’d like to learn more about joining the club, taking lessons, or signing up for a team, check out our website (gibsonscurlingclub.com) or phone us at 604-886-7512.
