Hi everyone! Hope you all had a better week as we enjoyed cooler temperatures and breezy days. SCRD Stage 2 water conservation regulations are in effect as of July 5 so be sure to check all the restrictions on the SCRD website: scrd.ca/Sprinkling-Regulations.

We spent some time at Coopers Green Park last Sunday. It was nice to see the Community Hall finally being used again for a small gathering. The park was abuzz with families playing in the water, boats coming and going at the boat launch, people having a picnic on the grounds and at the picnic tables, even some folks used the volleyball court! So exciting to be able to visit with friends and enjoy the amazing scenery at this lovely park. Those who visit the park are reminded that there is no overnight camping and to place garbage and recycling in the designated containers. We noticed there were a few large groups that left bags of garbage beside the containers as they were too large to fit in the bins. In a case like this, garbage should be taken when leaving and disposed of in a more suitable, less animal-attracting place.

Speaking of Coopers Green Park, the Halfmoon Bay Community Association is still looking for volunteers to help with their first post-pandemic celebration – Seaside Shuffle on Aug. 1. If you have some time to spare and would like to volunteer, please send a note to [email protected]. Check out their website and Facebook page for all the details and updates. HBCoA looks forward to seeing you there!

Residents of the Welcome Woods and Eureka areas of Halfmoon Bay are holding a community-wide garage sale on July 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is not a formally organized event, just a few families wanted to have a garage sale so they’re sending out an invite to the community to participate. There will also be farm stands with locally grown fruits and vegetables. If you plan on visiting the area, please drive safely as there are many deer and fawns in the area.

Be safe, be gentle, and always be kind.

Have your “Say at the Bay,” please contact me before 5 p.m. on Mondays. [email protected].
