Plant, Paddle and Pulverise for the Planet is taking place on March 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at IGA in Gibsons or on March 31 from 3:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at IGA in Madeira Park.
There are 1,000 trees (donated by the Sunshine Coast Community Forest Association) that need to be sponsored (suggested donation of $5/tree). The trees will be planted by Grade 6 and 7 students in an area behind the airport in Sechelt in early April. All funds raised will be for solar panels for the Loon Foundation in Madeira Park.
This is Phase 2 of their three-part fundraiser (Phase 1 was pulverising pumpkins after Halloween which raised just over $700 dollars). Details on Phase 3 will come out in May but we can tell you this includes kayaking various locations along the Sunshine Coast on May long weekend (keep your eyes peeled!).
Can’t make it out but wish to donate? You can do so through the website: www.kelsosclimateaction.ca. As always, Megan and Cody would like to thank the Sunshine Coast for all their support and the Sunshine Coast Community Solar Association for their assistance with this endeavour.
