TheDriftwood Players street theatre troupe, Story Theatre, is looking for actors, musicians and stage crew for another summer of classic storytelling, fables and original works - no experience necessary!

The troupe's sixth season kicks off with a weekend of free drama workshops next Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28, for anyone interested in testing the waters.

"We want to bring theatre to the people, to make it accessible for actors and audiences, and build a creative space for people to express themselves," said producer Radhika Samwald. "Experienced or novice, young or young-at-heart,if you're interested in being involved in theatre on a volunteer and non-professional basis, then we'd love to have you."

Using minimal props and costumes and a volunteer cast and crew, Driftwood Player's Story Theatre troupe performs for free at local festivals, streets and parks. 2013 will see the addition of new venues, including care homes and summer camps.

Cast members are stretching their wings by adapting and directing several of this year's stories, including Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream, The Frog Prince, a musical Robin Hood and a Story Theatre favourite, The Three Wishes.

To register for the free workshops, email [email protected].

Rehearsals run May through June with performances scheduled from late June to early September.See more at www.driftwoodplayers.ca/.htmand on Facebook.
