Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL) showcase series on the lower Sunshine Coast continues in the new year. The Richmond Sockeyes will be swimming up the Coast for two games. On Saturday, Jan. 28 vs the Port Moody Panthers and Sunday, Jan. 29 vs the Grandview Steelers. Both games are at 4:15 p.m.

After the first game series debrief meeting between the Sunshine Coast Junior Hockey Society and the PJHL, both parties came to terms on hosting another set of games. League Commissioner Trevor Alto explained, “We’d like to have another look at the coast, bring more of our teams and ownership groups to see what the Sunshine Coast has to offer. If it’s anything like the first series, our players are in for a thrill.”

Richmond Sockeyes owner and head of the league’s Steering Committee, Doug Paterson, commented, “I attended the first series with Chilliwack and North Van, it was fantastic. We couldn’t wait to come back with the Sockeyes for our players to have the same experience. We are looking forward to playing in front of such an enthusiastic group of fans!”

SCJHS President, Stu Frizzell wants the community to know, “We are in the running for our own franchise and hosting another game series takes us another step in the right direction.”

Tickets sales begin Dec. 1. Go to www.scjhs.ca for online ticket purchases. They will make a great stocking stuffer for Christmas.
