Olivia Deringer, 11, is ready for an exciting school year as she enters Grade 6. Last week, an exchange student from France came over to stay with her family for the next few months. And in January, she’ll be headed to Rouen, in northern France, for four months to learn French as part of the French to go exchange program. Olivia has French ancestors on her mother’s side, so she’s always wanted to visit France. Asked what she’s excited about, Olivia said, “I think the food will be probably better.” She’s also hoping to visit the Alps. She’s pictured here last week (in the blue hat) with her family, friend and counsellor for French to go, and a presentation she did in anticipation of the experience.
