PAINT OUTSIDE: Texada Paint Out 2024 is under the umbrella of the International Plein Air Painters. Saturday, September 7, will be the first one since 2019, and takes place at Shelter Point Regional Park, at 10 am.

It's almost that time of year again when artists like to make their way outdoors, to paint en plein air, or, in the open air.

Artists are invited to bring their easels, paint brushes, pencils and drawing utensils to Shelter Point Regional Park on Saturday, September 7, from 10 am to 1 pm, for Texada Paint Out 2024. Organizer and Texada Arts and Culture and Tourism Society (TATC) board member Ingrid Rompa said the event is for professional or hobbyist artists and those who just want to observe the painters.

"We invite artists to capture the stunning scenery of Texada Island at Shelter Point Park," said Rompa. "This event is open to the public, so feel free to come and observe the outdoor painters in action."

Rompa said the event is part of the International Plein Air Painters Worldwide Paint Out and has members spanning the globe, including: Austria, Brazil, Ethiopia, France, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy and Mexico.

"The exhibition of the painted works will take place on Saturday, September 14, at the Texada Island Inn," said Rompa. "The last event was before the COVID-19 pandemic, so we’re excited to bring it back this year."

Rompa said this is her first time organizing the outdoor painting event.

"I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together," she added. "I’ve heard that a few familiar faces from previous events are planning to join us again, which is always encouraging."

Participation for both artists and spectators is free of charge.

Artists can download registration forms at texada.org/paint-out.
