SD46 welcomes new HR, facilities managers

Welcoming new leaders for a new school year

As School District 46 (SD46) starts a new school year, it announced the arrival of their new manager of human resources and assistant manager of facilities with newly defined roles.

Manager of human resources

The Aug. 23 release said the departure of the previous manager of human resources led to an evaluation and the redesign of the position.

James Walton, former assistant manager of facilities and transportation for the last two years and the co-chair of the district occupational health and safety committee has been selected for the new position.

“James’s leadership qualities and extensive experience make him the perfect candidate to lead our HR initiatives, ensuring our staff’s well-being and safety are prioritized at every level,” said Kate Kerr, SD46 superintendent, in the release.

The release stated the new role will concentrate on occupational health and safety, wellness initiatives, attendance support, sick leave and leave management.

Assistant manager of facilities

The newsletter also highlighted that Michael Harris has been selected to be the school district's next assistant manager of facilities, effective Aug. 26.

A certified engineering tradesperson in metal fabrication as well as three years of work with the facilities department, the release states Harris brings a wealth of experience to the position.

“We are confident that Michael’s expertise and dedication will make him a strong fit for this crucial role, and we look forward to his continued contributions to our district,” said Kerr in the release.
