Kisses and Kicks: September 13 edition

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of September 13!

  • Bunches of kisses to Marisa, students in the office, volunteers and authors of the Festival of the Written Arts. It was a wonderful four days ending with a lightning storm but the show went on!
  • Repeated kicks to those who leave their unwanted material in the newspaper boxes. It’s bad enough that you remove flyers from the newspaper and leave them behind but what makes you think it’s Coast Reporter’s responsibility to take away anything given to you by Canada Post.
  • Kisses to the kind and industrious soul who pulled over 50 feet of root from my drain pipe and left it neatly coiled in front of the now freely flowing pipe!
  • So many kisses to the staff at ICBC in Gibsons. You managed so many people with grace & humour. Karen, you helped us so much. Above & beyond.
  • Kicks to the driver of the silver car who was illegally speeding/passing on narrow, winding Sechelt Inlet Road (full of cars, bikes, and wildlife) the late afternoon of Aug. 30. Your recklessness could have easily killed someone, including you. SLOW DOWN!
  • Kisses to Theressa Logan for being such a tireless advocate in bringing vibrancy and connection to the downtown core.
  • Oil slick kicks to those who insisted on idling in a ferry line where every other vehicle was respectful and turned off. BC is idle free.
  • Roundhouse kicks to anyone who continues to speed on Redrooffs Road. Be prepared for more police presence.
  • Kisses to the first responders, the bystanders, and the senior management from SuperValu who all rushed to the assistance of a gentleman who was accidentally injured by a truck in the SuperValu back parking lot Aug. 29. Kudos to the kindness of strangers in our community!
  • Kicks to the person or people leaving junk at the Maskell mailboxes on Lower Road. Your junk has been there for months now and it’s in the way.
  • Many hugs and kisses to the young man and women who came to the aid of a senior after falling at Clayton’s parking lot on Aug 24. Many thanks for your help and kindness
  • Kicks to the white (local) car that sped up and moved in front of our vehicle while on the loading ramp to take the last available spot on the 9:30 sailing on Aug. 28. Heartfelt thanks to the young ferry workers who worked so quickly to make certain that two very elderly people didn’t have to wait a further two hours.

Email your Kisses and Kicks to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. every Tuesday for a given week.

Coast Reporter will run kisses and kicks entries as space permits on a first-received, first-published basis.

Submissions must be accompanied by a name and phone number for confirmation by the editor. Names will not be printed in the column unless requested by the writer, for kisses only.

A kick is intended to be an anonymous critique between private parties and may in no way publicly identify an individual, group or business directly or indirectly.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 words. If your thanks or critique is longer, consider an ad in our classified section. The editor reserves the right to edit or refuse to run any submission.
