Kisses and Kicks: Kicks to tailgaters, kisses to library staff

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of November 8!

  • I would like to thank all the wonderful people who work in the medical field here on the Sunshine Coast. From the  paramedics who deal with stressful situations every day, to the hospital staff who still treat every person as an individual, and in particular  Dr. McCall, who goes beyond her professional duty to make sure her patients are given the best possible care, I am eternally grateful for all you do.
  • So grateful to Sunshine Coast Appliances for their unwavering expertise and phenomenal customer service. Once again you saved us - this time with a beautiful new stove. Thanksgiving kisses to all! RaRu
  • Kicks to whoever threw trash and empty cans onto the hill of greenery next to Roberts Creek Legion. That's not a garbage pile. Use the Legion's large recycle box that's right there.
  • A big kiss to the mystery gentleman on Oct. 10 at the BCLC in Gibsons who paid for my order as I ran off to the bank machine when my card malfunctioned! Upon my return to pay for it, the clerk said it was taken care of by a gentleman behind me! I looked around, and saw no one, she could not describe you, nor did she recognize you to tell me who I owed this favour to! So a big kiss and a thank you, for such a wonderful random act of kindness!
  • Biggest kisses imaginable to the mail carrier this week who looked out for one of our more vulnerable community members. Your extra care, concern and attention does not go unnoticed. We are lucky to have you.
  • Cheers to the Grade 7 students coming back to Roberts Creek school on the bus after their climb up Soames Hill on Oct. 17. What an absolute pleasure it was to have you talk with me about soccer and volleyball and your last year in elementary school. Thank you for offering me your seat on the bus too. I am so impressed with your social skills and politeness. I wish you great things as you enter high school next year. You are true leaders.
  • A pot full of honey to Richard Austin for bringing his magical readings to Pooh (Winnie that is!) and all Pooh’s friends, to the Sechelt library. Your reading brings them to life!
  • Deserving their own kisses are the library staff for their welcome creative setting, from the film image of the cozy library, to the welcome tea and cookies. It really had to be seen to be believed!
  • Kicks to all of the tailgaters out there!  You are ignorant and unsafe. You will not get there faster by riding up my a*%, in fact you encourage me to follow the speed limit precisely.  Why not just simmer down and be more respectful?

Email your Kisses and Kicks to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. every Tuesday for a given week.

Coast Reporter will run kisses and kicks entries as space permits on a first-received, first-published basis.

Submissions must be accompanied by a name and phone number for confirmation by the editor. Names will not be printed in the column unless requested by the writer, for kisses only.

A kick is intended to be an anonymous critique between private parties and may in no way publicly identify an individual, group or business directly or indirectly.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 words. If your thanks or critique is longer, consider an ad in our classified section. The editor reserves the right to edit or refuse to run any submission.
