Kisses and Kicks: Kicks for parking at mailboxes, kisses for ferry boost

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of July 5!

  • Huge kisses to the women who cheered loudly during the Sunday eve performance of Coast Academy of Dance year end show. Your cheering has hyped up the dancers and has been greatly appreciated for 13+ years. If you have never been on that stage you don't know how great it feels to hear it. And you always warn the people around you. Never stop cheering!
  • Farewell kisses to Bill at Strait Music for his valued advice and great service. You and your store will be sadly missed.
  • Big kisses and hugs to those who came by our Selma Park garage sale and supported the Building Together Women’s Housing Project!
  • A pumper truckload of kisses to Paul, Ian and all the fellas at Rise Concrete. These guys are the best! Hard working, reliable and honest. Many thanks for the beautiful work you did for me.
  • Hopeful hail Mary's to the folks living on/using Surf Circle. Why is parking along dog park fence allowed to continue? There have been too many near misses, turning our already narrow street into a one way hazardous situation.
  • Big kisses and thank you to the person who picked up my call alert button and put it on my car.  You may have saved my life.
  • Many, many thanks to the kind neighbour who left my mailbox key right in the middle of the doormat. You saved me about an hour searching for it and a lot of worry going to bed without it!
  • Kisses to BC Ferries staff for boosting my car and getting me on the ferry on time. All done with a smile on a busy  morning.
  • Major kicks to the speeding truck who killed a mother deer on Redrooffs and fled the scene.
  • Kisses to skilled Nurse Jessica for relieving the  Monty Python madness, Dr Dhillon for getting to the root of the matter, taking charge & giving us hope, and as ever for talented Nurse Kolton, a friendly face.
  • Kisses to Shell Gibsons for new carwash, works great.
  • Unmitigated kicks to those with the temerity to drive miles, then park their vehicles at others' Community Mailboxes whilst they go for leisurely walks with their friends. Unobstructed access to a Canada Post Community Mailbox is a Charter Right, second only to our right to bare arms.

Email your Kisses and Kicks to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. every Tuesday for a given week.

Coast Reporter will run kisses and kicks entries as space permits on a first-received, first-published basis.

Submissions must be accompanied by a name and phone number for confirmation by the editor. Names will not be printed in the column unless requested by the writer, for kisses only.

A kick is intended to be an anonymous critique between private parties and may in no way publicly identify an individual, group or business directly or indirectly.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 words. If your thanks or critique is longer, consider an ad in our classified section. The editor reserves the right to edit or refuse to run any submission.
