Kisses and Kicks: July 12 edition

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of July 12!

  • A whale of a kick to the individual on the sea-doo on June 28 that kept riding in front of the whale pod (6-10 of them) in Sechelt Inlet. Do you not know the precautions needed around whales? A boatload of kisses to the responsible boat drivers that enjoyed the spectacle of this pod of whales from a safe distance. What a wonderful sight to watch their blowing and breaching!
  • Grateful thanks to Dr. McDowell for his kindness and care to his patients over many years. We all wish him a very happy and well deserved retirement and happy travels.
  • Kisses to Douglas from Sunshine Coast Art Tours who rescued my panicked dog, cHewee, off the 101 after she got spooked by a bug zapper and bolted. Thank you for stopping and then even giving her a lift home, whilst between your client pick ups. Our wee pack thanks you!!!
  • HUGE KICKS to the driver of the truck who reportedly hit a doe on Redrooffs, and didn't stop! It's fawn season! To anyone, new or longtime resident, please remember why you choose to live here. Slow down. Living here is not about our agenda, and that is what makes it paradise.
  • Hands raised to Candace and Richard from Talasay Tours for generously and graciously sharing their knowledge and teachings on syiyaya Days walking tours.
  • Endless kisses to the couple who watched my wallet fly off the top of the car on the highway, stopped, and took time to return it. Thank you so much. Kicks to me for putting it there in the first place.
  • Kicks to the virtue signallers that want oil and gas banned, that would include planes, cruise ships and all restaurants that use natural gas ovens. Open pit mining for lithium batteries for EV’s that can overheat and explode. Eco-friendly?
  • Kicks to B.C. Timber sales for logging old growth forest on Vancouver Island, some trees were almost a thousand years old! Climate change and destruction of habitat is shameful. As the hippy song goes - When will we ever learn?
  • Big kisses go out to Bob and Gord for taking it upon themselves to clean up the dry leaves and brush from the Tuwanek trail. Thank you, this good deed has not gone unnoticed!

Email your Kisses and Kicks to [email protected]. The deadline for submissions is 1 p.m. every Tuesday for a given week.

Coast Reporter will run kisses and kicks entries as space permits on a first-received, first-published basis.

Submissions must be accompanied by a name and phone number for confirmation by the editor. Names will not be printed in the column unless requested by the writer, for kisses only.

A kick is intended to be an anonymous critique between private parties and may in no way publicly identify an individual, group or business directly or indirectly.

Submissions must be no longer than 30 words. If your thanks or critique is longer, consider an ad in our classified section. The editor reserves the right to edit or refuse to run any submission.
