Kisses and Kicks: December 27 edition

Here are the good deeds (and not so good deeds) that happened in our Coast community this week!
Kisses & Kicks
Kisses & Kicks

Here are your kicks and kisses for the week of December 27!

  • Kisses to Aurora, Sherri and staff at the Prancing Pony for creating such a welcoming atmosphere in the store, and for offering a hand whenever someone in the community may need it. ‘The Pony” feels like more than just a store.
  • Kicks to those who donate items to thrift stores that should have gone in the garbage, like dirty, smelly clothes, and broken items. Please remember that thrift stores have to pay to recycle clothing and to haul away all the garbage, meaning less money going toward the charities that these stores support. Thank you.
  • Kisses to Trish at the Landing Clothing Co. for her ongoing efforts to raise funds for the St. Bart’s Food Bank by offering “Give Back Thursday” to her clients!
  • Kisses of thanks to Darrin Goss RE/MAX City Realty. Experienced, true integrity, energetic. He truly cares, I highly recommend him for all your real estate needs.
  • Kisses to those who wear good reflective gear while on the road at night! You are not so invisible. Hugs and kisses to those who will give hi-vis gear as Christmas presents too!
  • Kicks to people who try to shame others not wearing the latest styles. Following fashion is wasteful and causes pollution. Shame on you.
  • Kisses to the kind member of the crew on the BC Ferry on Nov. 25 at 11:55 who assisted me with a problem getting my dogs back in my car.
  • Loads of kisses to Jill and Sylvia’s husband for going above and beyond to assist me in getting my flat tire replaced on my mobility scooter. I appreciate your efforts – Elizabeth and Murphy
  • Kisses from Kim to all my morning drive-thru customers at the Gibsons Starbucks. Although I won’t be there to greet and serve you anymore. I thank you for the all the years of kindness and friendship. Hope to see you around town.
  • Huge thanks and enormous hugs and kisses to all those who donated to our annual Realtors Care Blanket Drive! A great success and everything has now been picked up or dropped off to those who help the ones in need. Love our community! We’ll do it all again next year!
  • Kisses to the super trauma team at Sechelt Hospital: Andrew, Alicia, Nick and Letitia. You helped a kid (and his mom) get through a really scary day. Thank you for doing such great work for our community!
  • Kisses to Kara at Blackfish Pub for arranging great food and service for Gibsons pool aquafit lunch.
  • A string full of kisses to our neighbour Joe who brought us a couple festive warm up drinks while we were stringing up our outside Christmas lights on a cold afternoon!
  • A diner full of kisses to Carmen and her team at The Village for having 23 of us on Monday for our Christmas Lunch. The food is always consistent, plentiful and hot, served with a smile.
  • Kicks to those who are putting household garbage in the bin on Piccadilly Road at the entrance to Piccadilly Park. Don't jeopardize the continuation of the park bin for park users.
  • Kisses to all the organizers and attendees of this year’s Sechelt Festival of Lights! The Sunshine Coast Electric Vehicle Association was once again honored to be part of the Christmas parade, and it was wonderful to see so many more EVs!
  • Huge kicks to the man trundling the little girl around on a floatie, in the smaller pool at the Sechelt Aquatic Centre, on Dec 13. Twice you asked my friend and I to “relocate.” When I explained we were following the Aquafit, you directed us to the other side of this same pool. Not your job!
  • Kicks to people using the dog off leash area at Shirley Macey Park who can’t be bothered to pick up their dog’s poo. The grassed area is now a minefield — squishy piles every three feet. No, the rain doesn’t “take care of it.’”
  • Hugs and kisses, do not tell their partners, to Rebecca RMT of Gibsons Wellness Centre and Lauren Kinesiologist of Chipperfield Physiotherapy for the great work they are doing to teach me how to walk.
  • Stormy windswept kisses to Eddie and Eli of Gambier for keeping the island’s roads clear of fallen trees after every windstorm. Thanks guys!
  • Thank you to lady behind me at Clayton’s who provided the extra cash to buy the caramel popcorn treat along with the Deli lunch I was buying for the Repair Cafe. I wanted to pay her back. If she has a repair item, please bring it in for a free repair to our next session.
  • Kisses to the to the local realtor and his wife who were called out in the Oct. 25 “kicks”  for donating their chairs at the bus stop for tired and physically challenged neighbours, and also for their years of volunteerism on the coast, including coaching, support of SD46 students, and the sometimes anonymous, quietly giving generous contributions to the community.
  • Big hug and kisses to the lovely woman who paid for my Christmas tea with her Clayton’s cash. A very merry Christmas to you!
  • A super big hug and kiss to the friendliest guy at Langdale Terminal who sang “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” when I checked in today. Your smile and happiness made the day for me.
  • Kisses to my old friend Gerald and my new friend Jason for helping me the morning of Dec. 12 with my flat tire at the library parking lot. You got the flat tire off and the spare on like pros. Thanks also to the three other fellows who came by offering to help.
  • Huge kisses from the Sunshine Coast, SPCA to everyone that volunteers and donates to our shelter. 2024 has been a fantastic year and we couldn't do it without you!
  • Belated thank you. To the very kind person that found the black purse in the shopping cart at the IGA Plaza. During the heaviest rainfall that we have seen on the coast, you took the time to take my purse for safekeeping to the IGA. You certainly saved me from a lot of stress. Thank you.
  • Kisses to the two thoughtful young ladies who gave me a small shopping cart at Independent. They were getting the only one left when I stopped to see if there was another one. They followed me into the store and said they had found another one. You made it much easier for me to navigate the crowded store.
  • Major appreciation to Mark’s store in Gibsons for the generous support helping fill our community gift bags offered to the clients of the Salvation Army homeless shelter. The kindness and caring of your sock donation warms the heart, soul and the feet!
  • Kisses from my puppy Keiko, to the trail builders and volunteers who keep Hidden Grove Park so well maintained. Great job you champions of the forest!
