A 27-year-old Irish citizen living in Vancouver who died in a motorcycle crash is being remembered as a "guiding light" by his partner and family.
Vancouver police responded to a collision July 4 between a motorcyclist and a driver on Arbutus Street.
The accident happened just before 9:30 p.m.
Anthony McGwynne was identified as the motorcyclist who died at the scene.
Partner Antonella Lagana created a fundraiser for McGwynne and said the man from Calry, Sligo lived with passion and humour that was infectious.
“[He] approached every day with genuine kindness and a determination to make it better for those around him whom he loved so dearly,” Lagana said.
"Anthony, was not just a loving partner and companion but a guiding light in my life and in the lives of so many others."
More than $54,000 has been raised, which will go towards bringing McGwynne home to Sligo. The money raised will also go towards a trust for future repatriations of Irish citizens.
