Over four days, in the gruelling heat, chainsaw sculpture artists from across BC and the qathet region carved their way to producing beautifully crafted pieces along the Willingdon Beach upper walkway.
Folks walking by the finished pieces on Monday, July 15, and after Powell River Logger Sports weekend, looked on with astonishment at what they observed.
Some of the carvings included a humpback whale, a life-like octopus, a salmon and eagle sculptures. However, there were three artists who impressed the judges the most.
Carver Kamron Garbe placed first, with his heron tower; Benji Waretini-Hemara took home second place honours for his deer sculpture; and Shea Larking placed third for his horse bench creations.
