VANCOUVER — Six people have been arrested for refusing to end a blockade of Vancouver's Cambie Bridge.
Vancouver police say in a statement that about 150 people marched to the bridge and stopped traffic on the busy route on Saturday.
Police say after allowing the group to peacefully assemble and express themselves, they asked protesters to step aside so the bridge could reopen.
Four women and two men who refused to move were arrested for mischief and intimidation by blocking a roadway.
They were taken to Vancouver's jail and released from custody after agreeing to attend court at a later date.
The group Extinction Rebellion Vancouver announced it would be holding a sit-in on the bridge to demand an end to old-growth logging in the province.
