KELOWNA, B.C. — One man is dead and another is in hospital following an all terrain vehicle accident in a remote area near Kelowna, B.C.
Kelowna RCMP Const. Solana Pare says in a statement the Mounties and area emergency and rescue crews responded to the Postill Lake area after receiving a distress signal early Saturday from a global positioning system.
Pare says a 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a second man of th same age was airlifted to hospital in serious, life-threatening condition.
Also responding to the distress signal from the rural and remote forestry area were members of the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, Vernon Search and Rescue and B.C. Emergency Health Services.
Pare says the cause of the accident is under investigation by the RCMP, but no other information about the individuals involved will be released by the Mounties or B.C. Coroners Service due to privacy issues.
Postill Lake is located in a mountainous area about 30 kilometres northeast of Kelowna.
