Age
36
Occupation (s)
Youth program coordinator, co-owner, mom
Do you have a child in the school system?
Yes
Which position are you running for?
Area 3
How long have you lived on the Coast?
13 years
What is most important issue facing the school community? How would you address it?
Rapidly increasing costs of everything. This affects all school community members in our homes and makes operational planning very challenging. I would advocate for building budgetary buffers and increasing capacities for supports like food programs.
How are you currently involved with education in your community?
Over the last four years I have coordinated the Nights Alive Program in Roberts Creek, became qualified to teach Infant Sign Language and taught and pursued early childhood education.
Who needs to be involved in school board discussions and decisions?
All stakeholders in public education should be involved in the discussions and made transparently aware of the decision-making processes. Students, families, facility managers, educators, framework administrators and the community.
What do you see as the role of the school board?
Defining a vision for education that best fits the community and establishing a course enabling all parties to thrive through strategic supports and reduced barriers.
What do you wish we'd asked you?
What I hope to achieve? Reconnect the community to its schools by identifying transparency of processes and supporting authentic contribution into processes. Creating supported classroom dynamics by welcoming caregivers in.
