Should Sechelt facilitate creation of more affordable housing? How?
Yes! People that lived here all their lives are being forced out, a shrinking labour force is preventing our ability to improve our infrastructure and provide affordable goods an services. Developments that address these needs must be fast tracked.
Should Sechelt prepare for climate change? If so how?
A multiyear roadmap to address areas identified most at risk from a climate risk assessment, led by experts before we allocate and commit funds given complex & costly.
Is Sechelt managing growth appropriately?
No, we are building the wrong kind of properties and don't have services to supply them. We need to address service capacity needs including water supply and wastewater treatment before we further stretch these vital resources.
How would you balance pushback on development with need for housing?
We need development, it just has to be the right kind of development, servicing demographics most impacted and impacting our communities sustainment, ensuring developers that satisfy construction meeting the needs of these families and individuals are supported, incentivised and prioritised.
What is the greatest infrastructure challenge facing Sechelt?
Water supply: we must secure a plentiful and redundant water supply as a matter of urgency, this is now an emergency.
