There’s some clouds, lots of sun but no raindrops shown in the Weatherhood forecast icons for the next seven days on the Sunshine Coast.
Environment Canada posted that Sunday, May 5 was the first day of this month with measurable precipitation in our area, with 3.7 millimetres (mm) accumulated. Wet weather continued on May 6, bringing another .1 mm and into the early hours of the following day.
Given the “rain-dependence” of Sunshine Coast Regional District’s (SCRD) watersheds including the one that feeds its Chapman Water System, early spring rains are important in building and maintaining water levels at the area’s alpine lakes.
For a full update on conditions in that and other SCRD watersheds, tune into the May 9 Committee of the Whole meeting, or follow coverage of that event in Coast Reporter.
