Sunshine Coast Hospice Society offers services and support to people facing end of life challenges, including palliative care, advance care planning, and grief support for those who have lost a loved one. Hike for Hospice is the organization’s major annual fundraiser, held on May 26 this year at Mission Point Park. Despite the rain, enthusiastic volunteers were smiling. For more, see coasthospice.com.

Egmont Day is this Saturday, June 1. From the organizers: “We are still in need of baked goods, volunteers and parade entries. The kids fishing derby is at 8:30 (government dock) parade starts at 11 (parade participants arrive around 10:30, muster at the museum/Skookumchuk trailhead). Lunch is at noon. If you have baked goods to bring, drop off at the cakewalk in the community hall.
